The Rio Grande Review Literary Magazine will have details of the “Rebirth” Issue Release Party very soon. The cover, is almost ready!
You won’t want to miss this Issue, it’s overflowing with local and international talent. We have great artwork, poems, and stories. Not to mention, for the first time, a comic!!
We are also doing something special this issue, implementing new technologies and the craziness of the internet with the traditional literary magazine.
I hope to see you guys at the release party in May. IT’s going to be exciting. We will update the date on that in the upcoming days!

7 MarThe Rebirth Issue of the Rio Grande Review is due to come out this Spring! We have received hundreds of fantastic submissions. So thanks to everyone who sent their work in.

Last issue’s themed was The Apocalypse. Our purpose was to examine the meaning of the word in relation to what is happening in the world today. We received many magnificent submissions.
For the Spring 2012 issue we are extending that idea to include the aftermath that occurs after this great change. Entitled the Rebirth Issue, it will explore the rebuilding of the material, mental and literary landscape.
The DEADLINE for submissions for the Spring 2012 Rio Grande Review issue is Friday February 10th 2012.
Submission Guidelines:
Rio Grande Review is a Bilingual Journal and accepts submissions in both English and Spanish.
Only 3 submissions per person. We accept POETRY, SHORT STORIES, NONFICTION, and ORIGINAL ARTWORK.
SHORT STORIES, NONFICTION should be no longer than 4,000 words.
Please include a brief biography with your submission (1-4 sentences maximum).
We do not accept simultaneous submissions.

Fall 2011 Issue now in Print!
30 NovThe 2011 Apocalypse Issue attracted hundreds of great submissions. We had a tough time deciding what to include on there. It was a difficult theme, but it proved to be a great experiment that yielded many great results. We are getting ready to post the information for next year’s submission.

22 OctRio Grande Review was lucky enough to have a very talented local El Paso artist contribute one of his works for the Apocalypse Issue cover.
Cesar Ivan is a visual artist as well as a musician.Currently living in El Paso, Texas.
He works in various mediums that include:
Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, Metal Sculpture Designs,
Wood, Mosiacs, Mural Painting, Computer Graphics,
Book Illustrations and the design of handmade Calaca (Skeleton)
Marionettes.
“Metamorphic Ingenuity” – Oil Mix Media – 5′ 5″ x 4′
In this piece, the sprouting of objects or accomplishments of man are but a stepping
stone, a metamorphosis, the shape of things to come.
This piece was constructed using electical wire, cardboard, plaster and oil on canvas.
